Sneak Peek R Family {Marietta Family Photographer}

A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.
~George Moore

I had a fun session this Sunday morning!  The five R siblings wanted to get some photos done as a birthday gift for their mother.  I will not be mentioning this to my mom - she would LOVE for her kids to have done this for her!! The Marietta Square was full of fun things to watch.  For one I have never seen anyone walk a cat on a leash but we witnessed that today.  Also, some folks were practicing fencing with sticks.  Well I assume that is what they were doing.  With all the fun distractions I think we captured some great pictures.  I usually photograph young children and this was a nice change of pace.  I am sure they appreciate me not singing the theme song to 'Dora the Explorer'.

Sneak Peek H Family {Marietta Family Photographer}

All you need is love
~John Lennon

I had a wonderful session this past Saturday with the H family.  It was a gorgeous morning in the Marietta Square.  I could have stayed there all day.  Miss A and M are the sweetest girls!  This has to be the most beautiful family ever!

To get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with.
~Mark Twain

I had the opportunity to photograph my sister and her husband at the Marietta Square.  They will be welcoming a baby boy very soon.  If Chrissie had her way it would be VERY soon.  She was a trooper walking all around the square posing for pictures.  I think she looks fabulous.  I know they are going to make awesome parents.  I can't wait to meet my new nephew!

Window

The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.
~C.C. Scott

This entry is 2 fold.  First, I have the opportunity to auction off a photo session for the Swordsman's Ball in Marietta that benefits the American Cancer Society.  It will be held on August 22, 2009 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.  I am honored to contribute in this small way to such a wonderful cause.  It is a cause that I feel very passionately about.  Anyone who knows me has had to listen to my skin cancer lectures and the importance of screening and wearing sunscreen.  Since turning 28, I have had 12 Basil Cell Carcinomas and 2 Squamous Cell Carcinomas.  I have been blessed that they all have been detected early.  For more information about the Swordsman's Ball - www.swordsmanball.org  or www.cancer.org

Second, my very talented friend Treva Couch and I have been working together on these old windows.  When I was approached about the auction I thought what a great way to display some of my pictures.  I have attached a couple of pictures of the windows.  There are endless possibilities with these windows.  Not only are they a great way to display photographs but children's artwork, handprints, sentimental items etc.  Please call me for more information and pricing  - 678.522.7956.

Pure Love {Marietta Family Photography}

If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.
~Winnie the Pooh

This is one of my favorite families ever! I photographed baby D when she was 6 weeks old and now she is 3 months. It is so much fun to see how much she has changed. We decided to photograph grandma, grandpa and Jackson the dog too. We had a wonderful session and laughed a lot.  But then my eye started to swell and itch.  We realized that their cat had laid on one of the blankets and I am extremely allergic to cats.  Our session was extended by a trip to the urgent care.  Thank you guys for looking after me and making sure I was okay!

Teach him gently, if you can

You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.
~Abraham Lincoln

I read this poem in an article in the Marietta Daily Journal this past Sunday.  I thought how appropriate for the first day of school.  Hard to believe my babies started PK4 and 1st grade today.

Teach him gently, if you can.

My young son starts to school tomorrow. It's all going to be strange and new to him for a while, and I wish you would sort of treat him gently.

You see, up to now, he's been our little boy. He's been boss of the back yard. His mother has always been around to repair his wounds, and I've always been handy to soothe his feelings. But now things are going to be different. This morning he's going to walk down the front steps, wave his hand, and start out on a great adventure. It's an adventure that will probably include wars and tragedy and sorrow. To live his life, in the world he will live in, requires faith and love and courage. So, world, I wish you would sort of take him by his young hand and teach him the things he will have to know. Teach him, but gently, if you can.

He will have to learn, I know, that all men are not just, that all men are not true. Teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero, and that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader. Teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend.

It will take time, world, I know, but teach him if you can, that a nickel earned is of far more value than a dollar found. Teach him to learn to lose, and to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can, and teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Let him learn quickly that the bullies are the easiest people to lick.

Teach him if you can, the wonder of books, but also give him quiet time to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun and flowers on a green hillside.

In school, teach him it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat. Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if everyone tells him they are wrong. Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with tough people.

Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone else is getting on the bandwagon. Teach him to listen to all men, but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen on truth and take only the good that comes through.

Teach him, it you can, how to laugh when he is sad. Teach him there is no shame in tears. Teach him there can be glory in failure, and despair in success. Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness. Teach him to sell his brawn and brains to the highest bidders, but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul. Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob, and to stand and fight if he thinks he's right.

Teach him gently, world, but don't coddle him, because only the test of fire makes fine steel. Let him have the courage to be impatient. Let him have sublime faith in himself, because then he will always have sublime faith in mankind. This is a big order world, but see what you can do. He's such a fine little fellow, my son!

Sneak Peak H Family {Marietta Maternity Photographer}

No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.  Thank you.  ~Author Unknown

I had a fun photo session with the H girls.  Mrs. H is glowing and will be welcoming another little girl in August.  I know Miss L will be a great big sister.  Mr. H is in Iraq fighting for our country.  He is coming home in September after the baby is born.  I know he will enjoy seeing these pictures of his girls.  What a sacrifice this family is making for our freedom.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart…
~Jeremiah 1:5

I had my first maternity session on Saturday with Ryan and Emily.  I headed up to their lakehouse on Lake Arrowhead.  What a perfect day for pictures!!  We had lots of laughs and they are lucky they got me out of there.  I was ready to stay the weeekend!  Emily looked gorgeous - just glowing!  They are going to make awesome parents.  I look forward to meeting Miss Ally very soon.

I Heart Faces {Just for Fun}

Ice cream is happiness condensed.
~Jessie Lane Adams

I just love this blog!  Every week they pick a theme and you can submit your photograph.  This week is 'Just for fun'.  Since we are visiting my parents at the beach I thought a picture of one of my girls would be perfect.  Miss P's love for ice cream is something I have never seen.  I had to snap a picture of her eating her favorite treat on the boardwalk.

Happy Father's Day

Any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad.
~Proverb

Happy Father's Day.  I wanted to pay tribute to 3 special men in my life.  First, my husband Jonathan.  He is an amazing father.  My girls are so blessed to have this man in their lives.  I have never meet anyone with more integrity and grace.  Thank you for all that you do for your girls.

Second, my step-dad Jeff.  He stepped in and filled those father shoes when I was 10.  I remember we were driving to the beach when I was 12 and he found out that my sister and I had never had a bananna split.  He immediatly pulled over at the nearest ice cream shop and ordered one up for us.  He often goes unrecongized but I thank him for the stabilty he provided to our family.  Also, thank you for making my mother so happy.

Third, my father Ed.  It amazes me that although I have never lived in the same house as my father we are so much a like.  It has been so much fun discovering those similarities over the years.  My dad can always make me laugh.  He is truely an amazing man with the biggest heart.  This past November my father suffered a heart attack.  By the grace of God he survived.  It certainly put a lot of things in prespective for me.  It makes this Father's Day extra special to me because he is here to share it with us.

Pure Sweetness {Marietta Newborn Photographer | Marietta Children Photographer}

Every good and perfect gift is from above.
~James 1:17

I had the honor of photographing a sweet family on Saturday morning.  The P family has been blessed with a beautiful baby girl to join their family of three.  Big brother B was in my daughter's preschool class.  He is hysterical!  I could listen to him talk all day.  B looked at me at one point and said "I am glad there is a camera here because my mommy looks so beautiful" Baby D is precious!  She is the most peaceful baby I have every seen.  I really enjoyed photographing this family.  I appreciate Mrs. P's patience with me - I was having many blonde moments that morning!  Here are a couple of my favorites.

Sneak Peak of the S Family {Marietta Children Photograper}

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I had another wonderful session in the Marietta Square.  We just could not stay away from the cool water of the fountain.  Actually, Miss W was ready to just jump in and splash around.  As hot as it was that day - I was ready to join her.  We had fun talking about Spiderman and Dora the Explorer.  These two are absolutely precious!  I just had to post a couple!

Sneak Peak of the A Family {Marietta Children Photographer}

Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero.
~Marc Brown

I had my first photo session at the Marietta Square.  I tried to photograph my children there once but they weren't having it!  I was happy the A brothers were more willing to participate.   The Marietta Square holds such wonderful memories for me.   It was so much fun watching it through the eyes of a child.  Although it was a little humid we had a great time running around the square.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

Green Porch Swing

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation that you ever had.
~Unknown

I love shopping for antiques!  Yesterday I had lunch with a dear friend and went antique shopping.   That is when I saw it - the green porch swing hanging up high at the store.  I have been to this store a thousand times and never noticed it!  After negotiating with the store owner it was mine!  Of course getting down from where it was displayed for the last year was interesting.  Well I didn't actually get it but I was there for moral support.  I could not wait to bring it home and take pictures.  Luckily, my daughter and her best friend were available for some modeling.  I just love it!  I wonder where it came from and what wonderful conversations it witnessed.  I have a feeling this swing will be in many more photographs.

Sneak Peak of the D Family

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive.
~Anäis Nin

I always enjoy photographing my good friend's children.  I have watched J and G grow up.  Miss J and my daughter were in preschool together and have stayed friends ever since.  It amazes me how much they have changed since those days.  We had fun today laughing and singing songs. Of course chasing G around the yard gave me quite a workout!  Here are a couple of my favorites so far.

A Special Opportunity

Heaven give you many, many merry days.
~William Shakespeare

I had an opportunity to photograph my sister's wedding.  I am children and family photographer so this was something new for me.  I feel like I learned a lot from the experience and had a great time doing it.  I wish David and Chrissie all the happiness in the world.  Thank you for letting me document your special day.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

Spring Break

'for whatever we lose (like a you or a me)/ it's always ourselves we find in the sea'
~E.E. Cummings

Last week was spring break!  First, we drove to my sister's house in Kingstree, SC and stayed for a couple of days.  I have two sweet nephews that are 3 and 1.  Then we all drove to my mother's house in Kure Beach, NC.  It was really cold out but the 4 kids managed to have a blast at the beach.  We feed the Seagulls which was the coolest thing to watch.  The kids loved chasing the birds.  I was able to snap some great pictures.

Sweet Little Boys

'I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart) I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear...)'
~E.E. Cummings

I photographed the sweetest family on Sunday!  The S family has two precious little boys that were absolute angels during the entire session.  They made my job so easy!!  It was a little chilly and very windy but we got through with the promise of hot coccoa.  I think I might need to hire Mr. and Mrs. S to sing and dance for all my photo sessions!  They did a great job and got M and G to laugh and smile.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

Yummy Spoonfuls

'Happiness lies first of all in health.'
~George William Curtis

had the opportunity to photograph the founders of Yummy Spoonfuls!  What an amazing couple with an incredible story.  I think they are an inspiration to anyone starting a business.  I wanted to post a couple of my favorite shoots.  If you want more information about Yummy Spoonfuls check out www.yummyspoonfuls.com.

~Lao Tzu

I had my first engagement session today!  It was fun to branch out and try something different.  It was with my sister Baylee and her fiance Clay.  They are the most adorable couple.  We are so excited to have Clay in our family.  I just wanted to share a couple of my favorite shoots.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

'Snowflakes are kisses from heaven'
 ~Author Unknown

We finally got our annual snow fall today.  As soon as I saw the first flake I ran and got my camera ready.  I love taking pictures of my kids in the snow.  I think I was more excited about the snow then they were.  We made snow angels, had a snowball fight and built a snowmen family.  It was such a fun day.
